Full Australian batting squad has to make sure they go on: Nielsen

By Super Admin

Perth, Dec 15(ANI): Australian coach Tim Nielsen has told his team to score big if they have to break out of the recent disappointments against West Indies.

Australian left-hander Mike Hussey is reportedly under attack due to his lack of form, but Nielsen pointed out that he was far from the only man guilty of wasting a start.

"The biggest challenge for Huss at the moment is that he hasn't been able to go on and turn his 40s and 50s into big hundreds, and I dont think that's only Michael Hussey at the moment," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Nielsen, as having told to AAP.

"They've had both (Dwayne) Bravo and (Chris) Gayle make big hundreds in the Adelaide Test match and we're yet to have someone make a hundred in this Test series, which is something were talking about and working hard on, and it's not only up to Huss, but the full batting squad to make sure they go on," he added.

Nielsen further suggested that some batsmen were not showing enough grit to get through the difficult phases of an innings where regular boundaries were not on offer.

"It just comes down to the individuals taking responsibility when they get to that stage and making sure they maintain the concentration, focus and ruthlessness to bat through the difficult periods," Nielsen said.

"If they're not scoring or find things aren't quite working as they'd like, they need to take a little bit of time to make sure they get through those tough periods, realising that later on in the innings they'll catch-up in their scoring rate and the scoring we want to be going at," he added.
