Gautam Gambhir lands new Guidelines for India Players, will Results Follow?

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has voiced his frustration with the BCCI's policies and has been an instrumental figure in changing the norms for players.

BCCI introduced a ten-point guidelines for players effective immediately to enhance their performances and protect themselves from distraction.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has voiced his frustration with the BCCI s policies particularly concerning coaching roles and player selection processes

The time of Gambhir as India coach has been a topsy turvy one. After a decent start in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, India had a mini mishap in the ODIs. But the real glaring failure came at the hands of New Zealand, where the team lost 0-3 at home in a three-match Test series. And then a poor Border Gavaskar Trophy has further jeopardized the scenarios.

Adding to the controversy are the BCCI's new guidelines for Indian players. These guidelines impose stricter regulations on player endorsements and conduct, aiming to streamline professionalism and accountability. The recent debacle in Australia has made BCCI introduce ten strict guidelines for players, which has also raised questions.

After the last two dismal outings against New Zealand and Australia - BCCI has imposed new norms for players - which include mandatory travel with team, less time for family on tour and mandatory participation in domestic cricket.

Amid this, a section of fans have questioned Gambhir's methods and believe the India head coach has been a bit too harsh on his players. Although many fans have compared him as a 'Headmaster' and some also recalled 'Greg Chappell era', Gambhir has stuck to his principle.

Will success come for Gautam Gambhir as India Coach?

Gambhir, who is also under the pump for the poor results, will have a chance in the Champions Trophy next. After the World Cup 2023 final defeat, this will be their first major ICC tournament in 50-over format, and a positive outing would brighten the future for Gambhir and his peers.

At the moment, the situation is quite delicate in the Indian team. The growing struggle of senior players, toxic environment within the team, players' infight - all these components have ravaged the entire system. The upcoming T20I series against England will be a fresh air with younger players, but as the Champions Trophy approaches, its pivotal for Gambhir and co. to get their acts straight.

India, following the heartbreak in 2023, will be desperate to make amends in the Champions Trophy 2025, and a disjointed team won't have any chance for success. As the new guidelines are implied, the head coach will have to take the onus and unite the team ahead of the big tournament.

Yuvraj Singh recently spoke about giving Gautam Gambhir more time at the helm. The faith in him has been shown by BCCI as well, who accepted his demand for a batting coach and has appointed Sitanshu Kotak for that role. After a winless 2024 in ODIs, the Champions Trophy will be the determining factor for Gambhir as head coach - a victorious campaign will ease things and get him back on his throne, but a poor one may abruptly end his stint as India head coach.
