Gautam Gambhir was involved in a one-on-one training session with Sanju Samson as Team India trained under him for the first time ahead of the first T20I against Sri Lanka scheduled to be held in Pallekele on Saturday, July 27.

In a video released by the BCCI on Tuesday, Gambhir, the newly-appointed head coach of the senior India men's cricket team, was seen overlooking the training session of the Men in Blue.

The former India opener was also seen chatting with all-rounder Shivam Dube. While vice-captain Shubman Gill was spotted chatting with Axar Patel and Yashasvi Jaiswal, captain Suryakumar Yadav addressed the huddle with Hardik Pandya standing just next to him.

The T20I side left for Sri Lanka after Gautam Gambhir addressed his first press conference as the head coach of the Indian cricket team in Mumbai on Monday, July 22.

It would be interesting to see India's playing eleven combination for the first T20I with Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav at the helm. A toss up between wicketkeeper-batters Samson and Rishabh Pant is expected.

"The important thing is to give players the freedom. That's what I absolutely believe in, and not have a relationship which is of head coach and a player. To me, the best relationship is built on trust. And that is going to be very important. I can promise that they [players] will always have my back," Gambhir told in his first press conference as the head coach of Team India.

"I have always said that a happy dressing room is a winning dressing room, and a happy and secure dressing room is my responsibility alongside the entire support staff," he added.
