Gautam Gambhir has pointed out the technical flaw of young opener Shubman Gill after he was clean bowled by Pakistan pacer during India's first match of the Asia cup 2023 in Pallekele on Saturday.
Gambhir said that there was pressure on Shubman Gill after the dismissal of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer, before pointing out that the gap between his bat and pad was big enough for an express pacer like Haris Rauf to expose him.

Gill was outdone by the pace of Rauf as his delivery nipped back slightly after pitching and going though his bat and pad to clean the stumps. Gambhir suggested the batter to be more decisive while playing and commit through his feet or head position.
“It is a technical flaw but I believe he tried to play differently from his natural game because a lot of wickets had fallen from the other end. Rohit Sharma lost his wicket, then Virat Kohli lost his wicket and after that, Shreyas Iyer also got out," said Gautam Gambhir on Star Sports.
“So he was trying to build a partnership. It was a good ball as well but if you play while leaving such a big gap between bat and pad, a quality bowler will expose you. It's extremely necessary for Shubman Gill to work on this,” the 41-year-old further added.
“You have to either commit with your feet or through your head position. We didn't see either of those things even when he was playing well and leaving deliveries. So that is a small thing that he can work on,” Pathan mentioned.
The 23-year-old youngster failed on his Asia Cup debut and managed to score just 10 runs off 32 balls. The Punjab batter is certain of opening alongside Rohit Sharma in the upcoming World Cup 2023 and he would aim to get back in the groove in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
