India head coach Gautam Gambhir has confirmed that the players will always have his support through thick and thin.
The newly appointed head coach spoke in his first press conference after his appointment and asserted his unwavering support for players. He also spoke about preserving the secure atmosphere of the dressing room.

Gambhir was asked about the dressing room equilibrium and the former India player was on point again, mentioning he would make sure the dressing room is happy and secure, confirming that he wants to build the relationship with players with trust.
"The important thing is to give players the freedom. That's what I absolutely believe in, and not have a relationship which is of head coach and a player. To me, the best relationship is built on trust. And that is going to be very important. I can promise that they [players] will always have my back. I have always said that a happy dressing room is a winning dressing room, and a happy and secure dressing room is my responsibility alongside the entire support staff," Gambhir said.
Gambhir was also clear about taking over a hugely successful team, which did exceedingly well in ICC tournaments.
"I do not complicate too many things and neither do I want to, and be clear that I am taking over a very, very successful team. The T20 World Champions, runners up in WTC and runners up in the 50 over World Cup. Big shoes to fill and looking forward to it," he added.
Gambhir's first task will be against Sri Lanka as India fly out to the Island Country on Monday (July 22) for the limited-overs series. The Indian team will play 3 T20Is, followed by 3 ODIs.
Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the T20 captain and will lead the team from July 27 onwards. Rohit Sharma is set to return in the ODIs along with Virat Kohli, as the duo retired from the shortest format of the game. Shubman Gill has been appointed as deputy for both formats.
