Gavaskar says Ford's decision brings BCCI to 'square one'

Mumbai, June 11 (UNI) Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, one of the members of the special committee to choose a new India coach, today termed the decision of South African Graham Ford not to take up the job as ''returning to square one''.

Gavaskar, speaking here today, said now it was upto the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to address the issue and it would be their prerogative whether they decide to once again start the process as was done while choosing Ford or appoint an interim manager for the Ireland tour.

Gavaskar, however, said that Ford had informed them that he would have to check with the Kent county board, where he is the director of cricket, whether they could relieve him or not.

Gavaskar also said that now the BCCI would take a decision on the way forward in general body meeting to be held in Delhi tomorrow.
