GCA to register complaint with BCCI on Ponting smashing LCD

Ahmedabad, Feb 22 (PTI) Ricky Ponting might haveapologised but the Gujarat Cricket Association today said itwill register a complaint with the BCCI over the smashing ofan LCD television set in the dressing room by the Australianskipper during his side''s World Cup opener against Zimbabwe.

"We shall be lodging a complaint with the BCCI about thesmashing of LCD television set kept in the Australian team''sdressing room here," GCA Secretary Rajesh Patel told PTI.

"Our complaint will be forwarded to the InternationalCricket Council(ICC) by the BCCI and they will be take a finaldecision on the issue," he said.

"This not fair on part of the Australian team," he saidadding that the television set was worth over Rs 35,000.

The incident occurred immediately after Ponting was runout on 28 yesterday by a direct hit from Chris Mpofu in theGroup A clash between Australia and Zimbabwe.

The enraged Australian skipper allegedly hit the LCD withhis bat after entering the dressing room, GCA sources said.

GCA officials said they had informed the Australiancricket authorities about the incident.

Ponting has reportedly apologised for the incident. PTIVKB PD VKV PM
