Sir Geoffrey Boycott has been readmitted to hospital after developing pneumonia. This occurred just days after a successful operation to remove a tumour from his throat.
His daughter, Emma Boycott, shared that the surgery lasted three hours and went well, but complications arose soon after.

Following the surgery, Sir Geoffrey was discharged with pain medication on Friday. However, by Sunday, his condition worsened significantly. His family released a statement expressing gratitude for the well wishes but revealed that he is now on oxygen and a feeding tube due to his inability to eat or drink.
"Thank you all for the well wishes, we've been blown away by the sheer number of them. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worse and my father has developed pneumonia and is unable to eat or drink so is back in hospital on oxygen and a feeding tube for the foreseeable," his family shared on X.
Earlier in July, Sir Geoffrey disclosed that he had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time. This comes 22 years after he underwent extensive chemotherapy for his first battle with the disease. Additionally, in 2018, he had quadruple heart bypass surgery, which influenced his decision to retire from commentating.
Boycott is a legend of the game who played 108 Tests and 36 ODIs for England. The English cricketer made his international debut in 1964 and played till 1982. Boycott scored 8114 Test Runs at an average of 47.73 and notched up 22 Test hundreds.
