The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction in New Delhi delivered fireworks long before the first gavel strike, and Gujarat Giants were right in the middle of the storm.

With 277 top domestic and overseas stars up for grabs, the franchise entered the fray with clarity, intent and an appetite for a complete overhaul. Their first headline buy was New Zealand’s seasoned all-rounder Sophie Devine, secured for Rs 2 crore, adding immediate firepower to the middle order and leadership experience. They followed it up with Australia’s rising all-rounder Georgia Wareham at Rs 1 crore, bolstering the spin attack with smart variation and control.

The Giants did not shy away from smart domestic investments either. They snapped up hard-hitting batter Bharti Fulmali (Rs 70 lakh), multi-talented all-rounder Kashvee Gautam (Rs 65 lakh) and India’s pace hope Renuka Singh (Rs 60 lakh), making their bowling unit one of the most exciting of the season. England’s Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (Rs 50 lakh), Australia’s Kimberley Garth (Rs 50 lakh) and India’s dependable wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia (Rs 50 lakh) added both stability and explosive potential. With strong domestic additions such as Tanuja Kanwer, Anushka Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Titas Sadhu, Kanika Ahuja, Ayushi Soni, Happy Kumari and Shivani Singh, the Giants have constructed a balanced squad ready to challenge for the title.
