Patiala, Nov 20 (UNI) On the opening day of the 4-day tie in the Cooch Behar (Under-19) cricket tournament, Goa scored a modest total of 214 all out in 92 overs against the formidable Uttar Pradesh here today.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Goa failed to capitalise on the fifth wicket partnership between Alok Sirodkar and Vidyadhar Kamath which fetched 120 runs.
Both Sirodkar and Kamath scored 62 runs each and played some delightful drives on the front and back foot. Naveen Sharma (37) too, seemed well set for a big score but could not survive for long.
For Uttar Praedsh, B.Kumar bowled superbly to capture 4 wickets, conceding 37 runs. Mohammad Khalid was a perfect foil to Kumar, bagging 3 wickets for 60 runs. Sunil Tripathi took 2 for 22.
In reply, UP scored four runs in 5 overs, losing the wicket of opener S Pathak at close of play.
