GT vs CSK IPL 2023 Qualifier 1: Full List of Award Winners, Man of The Match, Stats and Records

Chennai Super Kings have registered a resounding victory over Gujarat Titans to book a berth for the IPL 2023. The four-time IPL champions CSK defeated the defending Champions GT at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday (May 23) by 15 runs.

This is also CSK's first win over Gujarat Titans in IPL. The MS Dhoni-led side will now be playing their 10th IPL Final.

CSK were put into bat by the Titans captain Hardik Pandya. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave CSK a fantastic start in front of their home crowd. Gaikwad scored 60 off 44 balls and the pair added 87 runs for 1st wicket. Despite a middle-overs collapse, CSK had a late cameo from Ravindra Jadeja (22 off 16 balls) to take them to 172/7 at the end of 20 overs.

The Titans, chasing 173, lost early wickets as Wriddhiman Saha (12 off 11 balls) and Hardik Pandya (8 off 7 balls) fell cheaply inside powerplay. Shubman Gill fought hard for his 42 runs, but the spin duo of CSK dismantled the GT middle-order.

Ravindra Jadeja (2/18) and Maheesh Theekshane (2/28) weaved their magic and the Titans batters had no answer to that. Jadeja picked up the wickets of Dasun Shanaka and David Millers, whereas Theekshana scalped the prize wicket of Hardik Pandya and Rahul Tewatia.

Rashid Khan played a decent knock of 30 runs late, but it was not enough as the Titans were bundled out for 157 runs.

What Happens Next

Chennai Super Kings have advanced to the Final and will be playing the all-important encounter on Sunday (May 28) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans will play the Qualifier 2 against the winner of LSG and MI on Friday (May 26) at the same stadium in order to meet CSK again in the Final.
