IPL 2024 GT vs CSK: Bowling Squad Comparison

Despite having an experienced bowling squad, GT has failed to portray the same on the field. Mohit Sharma and Azmatullah Omarzai have been the regular fast bowlers for them and both of them have failed to impress. In the last match, the Irish pacer Joshua Little had delivered a brilliant performance against RCB. The GT-spin unit has been managed by Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and R. Sai Kishore and all have had an average season so far.

On the other hand, the pace unit of CSK has been in exceptional form. But as their two highest wicket-takers, Mustafizur Rahman left the league due to his national team commitments and Matheesha Pathirana withdrew himself due to an injury, CSK had to depend on Tushar Deshpande to lead the pace attack. Among other pacers, Richard Gleeson was expensive in the last match while Simranjeet Singh delivered a brilliant performance.

IPL 2024 GT vs CSK: Who Will Get Maximum Wickets in Match 59

Joshua Little (GT): The Irish left-arm fast bowler has played a single match in IPL 2024 and though remains expensive, managed to scalp four RCB batters like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green. The 24-year-old has very limited experience in the IPL and has 11 wickets. A similar performance to the last match could save GT from elimination for now.

Noor Ahmad (GT): The 19-year-old Afghan spinner has 8 wickets so far this season. In the nine matches, he has been able to maintain a decent economy rate. In the last season, the left-arm wrist spinner managed to pick up 16 wickets. As Rashid Khan has been out of form throughout the season, the youngster has to step up to keep check on the CSK middle order.

Richard Gleeson (CSK): The 36-year-old English right-arm medium-fast bowler has joined CSK as the replacement for Devon Conway. In the absence of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana, CSK has to depend on him to get an early breakthrough, mainly in the powerplay overs. Though Gleeson was decent in his first match, he failed to get any wickets in his second match. It will be a great opportunity for the pacer to make an impact on this great platform by delivering a fiery performance against GT.

Tushar Deshpande (CSK): The 28-year-old Indian pacer was the highest wicket-taker in the last season for CSK. This year also the right-arm medium pacer performed well and already picked 12 wickets. As Rahman and Pathirana will miss the remainder of the tournament, he will lead the CSK pace-battery. A decent performance will be expected from him against GT to help CSK retain its spot on the table.

For the host, all the remaining matches are finals to keep their play-offs dream alive. Whereas the visitors are very much in the race to secure a spot in the play-offs. The defending champions will try to level their points with the third-placed SRH by winning this match and staying ahead of the other potential contenders like DC and LSG. Hence, a highly competitive battle can be expected from these two teams in this Friday evening clash.
