GT vs CSK: Gujarat Titans' star spinner Rashid Khan added an unfortunate milestone to his decorated IPL career during Match 67 of the 2025 season at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 25, Sunday.
In the afternoon clash against Chennai Super Kings, the Afghan leg-spinner conceded two sixes in his four-over spell, taking his season tally to 31 sixes conceded - equalling the all-time record set by Mohammed Siraj in IPL 2022.

The unwanted statistic now places Rashid Khan at the top of a list no bowler wants to lead. He joins Siraj (2022) with 31 sixes conceded in a single season, edging past Wanindu Hasaranga's 30 (2022), Yuzvendra Chahal's 30 (2024), and Dwayne Bravo's 29 (2018).
Apart from embarrassing milestone, Rashid's overall spell was also poor in isolation - he finished with figures of 4-0-42-1, picking up the wicket of Devon Conway who was threatening with a fluent 52. However, the CSK batter line-up, led by Dewald Brevis's explosive 57 off 23 and a blazing 34 off 17 from Ayush Mhatre, ensured Rashid's deliveries regularly disappeared into the stands.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Chennai Super Kings posted a commanding total of 230/5 in their 20 overs. The innings was marked by high-impact cameos, especially from Urvil Patel (37 off 19), Mhatre, and Brevis, who combined power-hitting with smart strike rotation.
While Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat Titans with 2 for 22, the rest of the attack, including Siraj and Coetzee, struggled to contain the run flow. Siraj in particular went for 47 runs in his 4 overs, offering little respite in the powerplay and at the death.
Shahrukh Khan, used as a surprise bowling option, picked up Shivam Dube but leaked 13 in his only over. Meanwhile, Rashid's continued six-hitting vulnerability has become a surprising concern for the Titans this season. Known for his miserly economy and wicket-taking prowess, Rashid has unusually found himself on the receiving end of aggressive batting throughout the tournament.
Rashid Khan has long been considered one of the most dependable bowlers in T20 cricket, with an enviable career economy rate. However, the 2025 IPL season has seen batters take a more proactive approach against him, often attacking from ball one rather than allowing him to settle.
Though he still remains a threat, the frequency with which batters have cleared the ropes against him is a glaring concern for Gujarat Titans, especially as the playoffs loom.
