Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings are squaring off in the very first match of the IPL 2023 on Friday (March 31).
The defending champions Gujarat Titans are led by Hardik Pandya while veteran MS Dhoni will be leading the Chennai Super Kings yet again after his appointment as captain midway through last season. CSK, who have lifted the IPL four times, finished second from the bottom of the table last year and will be keen to make amends this time around.

The match will be taking place at the iconic Narendra Modi stadium and a full house is expected on the night.
Gujarat Titans do have a few players unavailable with national duties, while the same goes for their opponents Chennai Super Kings.
Gujarat Titans don't have a full squad available ahead of their opening match in the IPL 2023. David Miller is on national duties as skipper Hardik Pandya will be tipped to field most of their last season's team. They have made some additions to the squad in the auction. West Indies duo Odean Smith and Alzarri Joseph have joined the team and will be available for selection in the first match.
Chennai Super Kings are also missing three overseas players for their opener. Sri Lanka duo Mateesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana are on national duty against New Zealand, and so is Sisanda Magala for South Africa.
