Delhi Capitals are set to play Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday (April 17).
As the Capitals play the IPL 2022 champions in the crucial encounter, the DC head coach Ricky Ponting has provided with a not-so-optimistic update on David Warner.

David Warner has been an important part of the DC squad. The Australian led them last year and is playing as a batter after the return of Rishabh Pant at the helm. The veteran has scored 166 runs in six innings at an average of 27 and has scored one fifty so far for them.
Although he is not at his premium best, the southpaw is a crucial piece of the Delhi Capitals batting zigsaw. But Warner suffered a knock on his left hand in the last match and his selection is subject to a fitness clearance ahead of the match on Wednesday.
"David did have an X-ray after the last game. That X-ray came back all clear. But, he's got a lot of swelling around the knuckle on his left hand. We'll give him a fitness test tomorrow morning, and keeping our fingers crossed that he's okay," Ponting said at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
The Australian also discussed their form and says the team talk has been regarding how close they have come but have failed to get over the line in the majority of the matches this season.
"The overriding message from me to the players over the last six games is how close we've been. We could easily be sitting here with five wins and one loss. So, we understand how close we are and how close the tournament is, but you can't afford to be close be good in the IPL. You've got to turn up and be very good every day," the Delhi Capitals coach added.
