Gujarat Titans delivered a clinical performance to secure a seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in Match 35 of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Chasing a steep 204-run target, GT showcased composure and power-hitting to seal victory with four balls to spare, climbing to the top of the points table in the process.

Delhi Capitals, sent in to bat first, made full use of the batting-friendly conditions to post 203 for 8. Despite lacking a standout innings, they maintained a strong scoring rate throughout. Skipper Axar Patel held the innings together with a composed 39 off 32 balls, while Ashutosh Sharma delivered late fireworks with a 19-ball 37. The top order made quick contributions—KL Rahul (28 off 14), Karun Nair (31 off 18), and Abishek Porel (18 off 9)—to propel DC past the 200-run mark.
Gujarat’s Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 4 for 41. His two wickets in consecutive deliveries during the middle overs helped check DC's momentum at a crucial juncture.
In response, GT suffered an early blow with the dismissal of Shubman Gill for just 7. However, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford absorbed the pressure and launched a stunning counterattack. The pair stitched together a 102-run stand for the third wicket that broke the back of the chase.
Buttler remained unbeaten on 97 off 54 balls, showcasing his class with 11 fours and four sixes. Despite struggling with cramps in the latter part of his innings, he remained relentless, including hitting five boundaries in a single over to dismantle the DC bowling rhythm. Rutherford complemented him superbly with a brisk 46 off 26, helping Gujarat seal the deal comfortably in 19.2 overs.
The defining moment of the contest came in the 15th over of Gujarat's chase, bowled by Mitchell Starc. Up to that point, the game was finely poised with GT requiring a strong push. Buttler turned the tide single-handedly by smashing five boundaries in the over, extracting 20 crucial runs and breaking DC's bowling plans.
That single over not only shifted the momentum but virtually ended Delhi’s hopes of pulling things back. Starc, one of DC’s most experienced bowlers, faltered under pressure, and the Titans capitalized ruthlessly. The Titans found the key momentum and got ahead in the chase from a competitive equation into a canter, paving the way for a dominant GT win.
