Gujarat Titans registered their first victory of the IPL 2025 season as they beat Mumbai Indians on Saturday (March 29).
The night sky at the Narendra Modi Stadium witnessed a dominating performance from the home team as they beat the Paltans by 36 runs.

It was an excellent performance from the Titans. GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided a steady start. Sudharsan was the standout performer with a fluent 63 off 41 balls, anchoring the innings with elegant strokeplay. Jos Buttler chipped in with a brisk cameo, while Sherfane Rutherford added momentum in the middle overs. In the end, they managed to score 196 for 8 at the end of their full quota of overs.
Rohit Sharma was dismissed early and Mohammed Siraj brought two blows for the home side. Tilak Varma scored 39 runs but took 36 deliveries and then Suryakumar Yadav got dismissed for 48 runs, which kind of ended their contest. Prasidh Krishna was excellent with the ball as he took 2 wickets, conceding only 18 runs in four overs. Siraj also got a couple as the Paltans could only manage 160 for 6 at the end of their 20 overs.
The Turning Point of the GT vs MI match was the middle overs struggle for the Mumbai outfit. In the run chase, the Paltans were cruising up to the 11th over in the match. They were at 97 for 2 with Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma were at the crease.
During the middle phase of Mumbai Indians' (MI) innings, spanning overs 12 to 16, they encountered significant challenges that hampered their pursuit of the 197-run target. In those five overs, MI managed to score only 23 runs and lost three crucial wickets, causing the required run rate to escalate and placing them in a precarious position. Tilak Varma, Robin Minz and then Suryakumar Yadav departed in this phase and changed the dynamics completely.
