GT vs MI: Why did Mohammed Siraj celebrate 'Virat Kohli' style after dismissing Rohit Sharma?

By MyKhel Staff

Mohammed Siraj was seen celebrating in an unusual fashion after dismissing Rohit Sharma in the IPL 2025 match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.

Siraj started the first over in sublime fashion as he knocked over the India captain. After getting hit for boundaries in the first two deliveries, a superb comeback saw The Gujarat bowler casting Rohit's stumps in sublime fashion.

GT vs MI Why did Mohammed Siraj celebrate Virat Kohli style after dismissing Rohit Sharma

Chasing a formidable target of 197, Rohit began aggressively, striking Siraj for two consecutive boundaries. However, Siraj's persistence paid off when he bowled a sharp in-seamer that breached Rohit's defense, sending the stumps cartwheeling. This early breakthrough set the tone for Gujarat Titans, showcasing Siraj's resilience and ability to bounce back under pressure. Despite Rohit's early departure, he achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fourth player in IPL history to hit 600 fours, joining the elite company of Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and David Warner.

But after dismissing Rohit, Siraj was seen celebrating in 'Calma' fashion, which is popular courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo. Although the GT pacer has done Ronaldo's 'SIUU' celebration as well, this time his gesture was to rather calm the atmosphere with downward movement of both his hands. Virat Kohli was also seen with a similar class of celebration after the Champions Trophy win over Pakistan recently.

GT vs MI IPL 2025: Why did Siraj celebrate like that?

Mohammed Siraj perhaps wanted to not get overjoyed after picking up a senior pro such as Rohit Sharma. It was also Siraj's first wicket in the IPL 2025 season as he conceded 54 runs in four overs and went wicketless in the first match against Punjab Kings.

The celebration was mainly muted but the hand gesture was probably to reaffirm to the fans and himself his quality. Siraj will also be aiming to return to the India side after losing out his place in recent months. The pacer's muted Calma celebration turned to a laugh as Rohit started to go back to the pavilion.

The former RCB pacer was bought by the Titans for a hefty price and will be looking to showcase his prowess in the course of the season.
