GT vs PBKS, IPL 2025: Glenn Maxwell was called out by fans on social media for his uninterested approach in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but the Australian all-rounder was unfortunately adjudged LBW during his Punjab Kings comeback match on Tuesday (March 25).
Walking in to bat at number five at the fall of Azmatullah Omarzai's dismissal during Punjab Kings' innings, Maxwell tried to reverse sweep Gujarat Titans spinner R Sai Kishore, missed making any connection with the ball striking him on the tigh pad as umpire judged him out.

This golden ball duck dismissal saw Maxwell enter the top of the list for the most unwanted record in a batter's career - most ducks in Indian Premier League. However, the Aussie may have been unlucky after replays showed that the onfield umpire's decision was wrong and the ball was missing the stumps on ball tracking.
Maxwell did discuss about taking a DRS with skipper Shreyas Iyer, who advised his teammate not to take the review. And som fans took to social media to express their displeasure at the way Maxwell threw his wicket away, while some also sympathised with the 36-year-old and questioned why Shreyas did not ask him to take the review.
Many fans were surprised with Maxwell's reluctance to take the review which may have saved him form entering the record books for unwanted reasons. But many questioned his uninterested approach to the game especially when facing his first delivery in the match.
Another user questioned Shreyas Iyer's role in Maxwell not taking the review, "Shreyas Iyer just pulled a "Bhagwan Kasam, Out hai" moment; convinced Maxwell to skip the review, and guess what? Wickets MISSING." The same user also poked fun at Maxwell winning most ducks race.
Coming back to the match, skipper Shreyas Iyer went on a six-hitting spree to make 97 not out and help Punjab Kings post 243 for five against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Iyer led from the front with a stunning 42-ball 97 not out which featured nine sixes and five fours, helping Punjab Kings inch closer to 250-run mark even though a few others disappointed.
