Personal milestones at the cost of team is not something that interests this generation of cricketers. They don't play for centuries anymore and Punjab Kings' skipper Shreyas Iyer is the best example of it.
He gets hit on his ribs, carries his team on his bat and gets tantalisingly closer to a century but still gleefully enjoys his partner Shashank Singh hammer Mohammed Siraj for runs in the final over.

Iyer, who was supposed to have been dropped from the Champions Trophy team on recommendation of Indian coach Gautam Gambhir, played a blinder once again for his IPL franchisee against Gujarat Titans on a big ground in Ahmedabad.
This knock in Ahmedabad was another reminder of why he's so valuable - he keeps proving his critics wrong with his performances - to any team. It doesn't matter if a delivery from a fast bowler through an inside edge hits his ribs, he comes out strong and dispatches the next delivery for a six.
Iyer is absolutely killing it. His fearless approach, even when wickets fall around him, makes him a rare asset in the middle order. This kind of consistency, especially in high-stakes matches, is exactly what selectors look for. If he keeps this up, he might also be in serious contention for leadership roles in the future, who knows?
Iyer's command over his back-foot play has been exceptional. His ability to judge length early and position himself perfectly for cuts, pulls, and drives makes him incredibly tough to bowl to.
He's no longer just a flashy stroke-maker; he's a complete batter who can dominate pacers and spinners alike. Right now, getting his wicket is a big deal for bowlers, and that speaks volumes about his impact. Hope Punjab Kings make most of such a player!
