GT vs PBKS: Ashutosh Sharma made a stellar IPL debut against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, April 4. While Shashank Singh grabbed all the attention, the 25-year-old played an equally crucial role.
The partnership between Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh provided the much-needed impetus to Punjab Kings innings who were set a daunting 200-run target to chase. In fact, Ashutosh played the role of aggressor in the innings.

The partnership between the duo consisted of 43 runs off 22 balls. Ashutosh Sharma, who walked in as an Impact Substitute, blasted 31 runs off 17 balls during the period. Shashank Singh chipped in with a contribution of nine off five for the seventh-wicket partnership.
The innings from Ashutosh Sharma consisted of three fours and a six. He emerged as the third-highest run-scorer for Punjab Kings after Shashank (61* off 29) and Prabhsimran Singh (35 off 24). The vistors completed the chase with three wickets and a ball in hand.
Ashutosh Sharma is an Indian cricketer who plays for Railways in domestic cricket. The 25-year-old batter made his domestic debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2018. He has played a total of four first-class matches, seven List A games and 16 T20 matches till date.
The 25-year-old, who hails from the town of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, moved to Indore at a tender age of 10 to hone his cricketing skills. Despite limited resources, Ashutosh learned to manage everything on his own, and worked as a ball boy and an umpire to make ends meet.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, Ashutosh Sharma scored 183 runs in seven matches at an average of 30.5 and a strike rate of 277.27. Thirteen fours and 19 sixes came off his bat.
He also broke Yuvraj Singh's record for fastest T20 fifty by an Indian during the domestic tounament. Playing against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi, Ashtosh smashed a 11-ball fifty to better Yuvraj's record by a delivery.
The batter cricketer smashed his maiden first-class hundred in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 against Gujarat. He scored 123 runs off just 84 balls while batting at eight. The innings consisted of 12 fours and eight sixes. Railways won the match by 184 runs and Ashutosh Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match.
Ashutosh Sharma, who has a T20 strike rate of 196.50 and an average of 30 (after 16 matches and 450 runs), was bought at his base price of Rs 20 lakh.
