Glenn Maxwell returned to action as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf Du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2024 match 45 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (April 28).
Maxwell, who had requested a mental and physical break following a disappointing run of games, replaced pacer Lockie Ferguson in the RCB playing 11 as skipper Du Plessis revealed the Australian all-rounder's return adds firepower to the middle order.

Shubman Gill's GT, on the other hand, remain unchanged from the defeat to Delhi Capitals, meaning the Azmatullah Omarzai, David Miller, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad will be the four overseas options.
At the toss, Du Plessis explained why he prefers chasing in this match and also praised his bowling unit for their performances in the last two matches against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad
"The wicket will be better later, so we will like to chase. With so many high scores the nature of this game has changed, our bowlers have been exceptional in the last two games. We have scored big with the bat, those are the changes," Du Plessis said.
On the team news, Du Plessis confirmed the return of the Australian all-rounder, who could also be handy with his off spinners in the day game, "Maxwell comes back in, we have some firepower in the middle-order."
After being put in to bat first, GT captain Gill said: "Would have chased as well, looks a really good wicket. Need to put a good total on the board. We have batted decently, we lost by a difference of just one ball in the last game. This is the right time to peak for us."
