Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan had predicted Shubman Gill's downfall against Jofra Archer before the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals locked horns in match 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday (April 9).
Gill was castled off a peach of an in-swinger by Archer in the first delivery of the third over. And the former pacer had made the exact same prediction in the key battles for the GT vs RR match in his preview video on his YouTube channel.

Having already faced him once in the first over of the innings, Gill would have hoped to see off the English speedster, but his stay was ended for 2 by a fiery Archer, who clocked 147/7kmph to clean up the star Indian batter. Here is a look at how Archer got through Gill's defence:

Just moments after the dismissal, Pathan took to social media to recall his prediction and fans also posted video clips from his preview of the game which came out to be true in the case of Gill vs Archer.
"Spoke abt this delivery from Jofra Archer to Gil on my last video. Was looking forward to this match up. What a set up," Pathan posted on X after Archer's in-swinger castled the GT skipper.
Ever since being taken to the cleaners in the first two matches, including the most expensive spell in IPL history, Archer has definitely been breathing fire, especially in the powerplay, cleaning up opening batters with very quick deliveries.
Coming back to the GT vs RR match, after being put into bat, GT lost Gill early with the scorecard reading 14/1 in 2.1 overs. However, the in-form Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler fought through the next four overs of the powerplay to take the team to 56/1 in 6 overs before the latter fell in 10th over.
At the fall of Buttler's wicket, GT had reached 94/2. The England wicketkeeper batter, who earlier played for RR, scored 36 off 25 balls against his former team before he fell was trapped LBW by spinner Maheesh Theekshana in the final delivery of the half-way stage of the innings.
Sai Sudharsan, however, carried on his rich vein of form with another fifty and shared good stand with Shahrukh Khan to take GT within reach of a massive total at the end of 14 overs.
