GUJ-W vs RCB-W Dream11 prediction, WPL 2023: Who are the best fantasy picks for Gujarat Giants vs Mumbai Indians Dream11? GUJ-W vs RCB-W pitch report, injury update, key players

GUJ-W vs RCB-W Dream11 prediction Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, WPL 2023 Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Gujarat Giants in both the sides' third matches in the ongoing Women's Premier League or WPL 2023. The match will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Both sides are desperate for a win as they lost all their games played so far and are languishing at the bottom of the WPL table. Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore women in particular have let down in both matches by not putting up enough of a fight.

Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, fought hard in a last-over loss to UP Warriorz after a meek surrender to Mumbai Indians in the WPL opener after getting bundled out for just 65, which is now also the lowest total in the nascent history of the franchise tournament.

Gujarat Giants injury update, key players in WPL 2023

Gujarat Giants are likely to see Beth Mooney return to the side after she was retired hurt in the first game and subsequently missed the UP Warriorz game. As per reports, the skipper has resumed training at the nets.

This could effectively mean that English opener Sophia Dunkley will make space for the captain in the line-up. Her inclusion is also the important fact that she will keep the wickets, giving Gujarat Giants further option to play an extra bowler.

Giants' Indian batters find some runs

Opener S Meghana in all certainty will keep her spot as she is among the few capped Indian players in the squad. She made a decent contribution of 24 runs in the last game after scoring just two runs in the inaugural match of the season.

Harleen Deol got some runs to add further confidence for the side as she scored 46 in the last game, which is the highest by any member of the team so far.

At No. 5 D Hemalatha has been the lone consistent performer with knocks of * and 21* with a positive attitude while things were falling apart around her.

Annabelle Sutherland a star failure

Annabelle Sutherland, who was expected to guide the middle order, has been largely disappointing with a sum of 14 runs in 24 balls. Her pace bowling has been below par too as she conceded runs at an economy above 10.

Gardner not playing her A Game

Ashleigh Gardner was a bigger disappointment as the T20 World Cup player of the tournament was expected to lead the charge but she has neither impressed with the bat nor the ball so far.

However, a player of her stature is expected to fire sooner or later, in Giants' case sooner the better. Her 19-ball 25 in the last innings should give her confidence going forward.

Kim Garth holds key to bowling

Spinner Sneh Rana took two wickets in the first game but conceded 43 runs in his full quota of overs. Things didn't improve much in the next game for the vice-captain as she gave herself just two overs while giving away 16 runs.

In fact, the story for the rest of the Indian bowlers in the line-up is mostly the same or worse. The likes of pacers Mansi Joshi and Monica Patel, and left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwar have either leaked runs or been ineffective.

Kim Garth was like a breath of fresh air in the team as she picked 5/36 on her WPL debut and will be the bowler to watch out for.

Spin all-rounder Georgia Wareham may return to the line-up as well with Sushma Verma not needed while the likes of Hurley gala, Ashwani Kumari and Shabnam Shakil may see an opening in the line-up with Indian pacers not doing the job.

Royal Challengers Bangalore women injury update, team news

No injuries have been reported from RCB women's camp but they have plenty of problems to solve after being brushed aside by two rivals in space of two days.

RCB overseas batters' lack of form put pressure on Smriti Mandhana

Leading into the WPL season, there was always a question mark over the form of overseas batters like Sophia Devine, Ellyse Perry and Heather Knight.

The worries were not unfounded as none of the trio have exerted themselves into the team in comparison to other overseas players plying trade with the rival franchise.

Experienced Sophie Devine, who was promoted to opening slot, has scored just 30 runs in two games, which is more than what the New Zealander scored (19) at the World Cup while her side made group stage exit.

She did seem in good touch on flat Mumbai tracks but hasn't shown the mileage that was expected of her.

The same is true of T20 World Champion Ellyse Perry, who scored 31 and 13 in her two innings and hasn't really shown the dominant game that she is known for.

English captain Heather Knight came to WPL in better touch in comparison to her other overseas teammate with 95 runs across five innings and started off well with a knock of 21-ball 34 at No.6 but was gone for a first-ball duck in the very next match.

This has added to the responsibility of skipper Smriti Mandhana, who appeared in good touch with innings of 35 and 23 following a strong showing at the World Cup but it was evident that RCB batters weren't dominating the bowlers once the southpaw was gone.

Richa Ghosh yet to fire

There was much expectation of wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh too as she was the most in-form Indian batter at the World Cup and was expected to go better on sub-continent wickets with the power she produces in her shots

However, she scored just 28 runs in two innings so far at No. 5 despite getting the opportunity to bat early than expected.

Indian lower-order batters sorted

Amid the two defeats, RCB had at least a positive of finding their lower-order batters in Kanika Ahuja and Shreyanka Patil, who showed against Mumbai Indians that they are capable of scoring runs at the fag end of the innings.

However, Megan Schutt showed in two back-to-back innings that it would be better if she bats ahead of the two abovementioned Indians. The Australian is the highest-scoring overseas batter (50 runs) in the team at the moment despite batting as low as No. 9.

At the top order, Disha Kasat, rated as an upcoming talent, has disappointed with two poor outings of 9 and 0.

RCB bowling a major concern

RCB bowling at the same time has been painful to watch. Frontline pacers Renuka Singh and Megan Schutt found it hard to get anything out of dead sub-continent pitches. However, the duo was at fault for not adjusting their lines as per the requirement of the game as they leaked 129 runs in the 13 overs combined.

Devine and Perry have been ineffective with the ball as well with Mandhana often not trusting them for multiple overs in two games.

Left-arm off-spinner Preeti Bose has been average bowling at an economy of 8-plus while picking just a wicket. However, her stats appear still better than the likes of Shobana Asha and Shreyanka, who just couldn't contain runs.

With the bowling combinations and middle-order not working, Dane van Niekerk or Erin Burns may get a look into the batting order with their spin-bowling ability also providing for the gulf of talent in the spin department as Heather Knight hasn't received much support from the other end.

Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore pitch report GUJ-W vs RCB-W

Braboune Stadium has some swing on the offer early in the first innings of evening matches, it's something that both captains may like to exploit. Once seeing out initial overs, it's all batters game and the misfiring star batters of both sides will like to make the most out of it.

200-plus has been never chased in women's T20 and teams with 180-plus total are yet to lose this tournament, making batting first a wise choice.
