Gujarat Ranji team departs for Mumbai

Ahmedabad, Jan 3 (UNI) After beating Madhya Pradesh in the semi-finals of the Ranji trophy Plate league played in New Delhi last week, Gujarat team left for Mumbai to play the final match against Railways.

Gujarat Cricket Association's (GCA) Hon Secretary Vikram Patel here today said the team will play final match of Ranji Trophy Plate group against Railway's team from January 5 to 9 at Brabourne Stadium there.

Gujarat beat Madhya Pradesh in the match held in New Delhi on December 27 and comprehensively earned promotion to the Super League and entered the final of the Ranji Trophy Plate League.

With this win, Gujarat, who were relegated last season, ensured their stay in the Plate League will be the briefest possible one, as they will play in the Super League next season by the virtue of having made it to the top two.

Following is the team: Parthiv Patel (capt and wk), Niraj Patel, Nilesh Modi, Rajesh Tabiyar, Hem Joshipura, Bhavik Thaker, Anant Brahmbhat, Timil Patel, Mohnish Parmar, Siddharth Trivedi, Ashraf Makda, Hitesh Majmudar, Nilesh Chaudhary, Amit Singh, Jay Desai.

Ashok Patel will be chief coach, while Vijay Patel is coach and Bhargav Upadhyay (physio), GCA sources added.
