Gujarat Titans and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan has etched his name in cricketing history, becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. The 26-year-old leg-spinner surpassed West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo's record of 631 wickets during MI Cape Town's SA20 Qualifier 1 clash against Paarl Royals on Tuesday.
Rashid claimed two wickets in the match, finishing with figures of 2-33. His remarkable tally now stands at 633 wickets in just 461 matches, at an impressive average of 18.08. Bravo, who previously held the record, took 582 matches to reach 631 wickets at an average of 24.40.

Since making his T20 debut in 2015, Rashid has been a dominant force in the shortest format. His lethal leg-spin, combined with an ability to bowl at pace, has made him one of the most sought-after bowlers in T20 leagues across the world.
He has played in various leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and England's The Hundred. Notably, Rashid has been a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad and his current team - Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Adelaide Strikers in the BBL, and Sussex Sharks in the Vitality Blast.
Speaking after the match, Rashid expressed his pride in the achievement. "It's a great achievement. I never thought about it, if you asked 10 years before this if I would get there. It's a proud feeling to be from Afghanistan and to be at that level where you top the table," Rashid told the host broadcaster.
"DJ [Bravo] is one of the best T20 bowlers. It's a great honour and I'm looking forward to continuing." Rashid's record-breaking feat will be a major boost for his IPL franchise, Gujarat Titans, who retained him for INR 15 crore ahead of the upcoming season.
While Rashid's wicket-taking ability is widely recognized, his impact goes beyond mere numbers. He has perfected the art of controlling the game by keeping batters in check. With an economy rate of just 6.49, he remains one of the most economical bowlers in T20 history.
His batting prowess has also evolved over the years, making him a valuable all-rounder. Rashid is known for his ability to hit sixes at crucial moments and has a unique stroke called the "snake shot," where he flicks yorkers with incredible wrist work.
