Harbhajan appeals to BCCI; seeks 'one final chance'

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Just two days before the disciplinary committee takes action against him, temperamental off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to give him 'one final chance'.

Harbhajan, who has already been banned from playing in the IPL for slapping his Indian teammate S Sreesanth, has written a letter to the BCCI requesting for another chance as the outcome of the hearing could pose a serious threat to his career.

''Along with accepting my most sincere and heartfelt apologies over this incident, I would like to appeal to the Board's sense of fairplay and ask for one final chance before taking any disciplinary action against me over this incident,'' he said in the letter as reported by 'NDTV' today.

He also wrote that he regrets his actions against Sreesanth to whom he had already apologised and is willing to do it in public.

The IPL governing council has already penalised him but the BCCI will consider his act under level 4 offence of the ICC Players' Code of Conduct.

Harbhajan's career is now under serious threat because if he is found guilty under level 4 offence, the maximum punishment is of a life ban or a minimum ban of five Tests or 10 one-day internationals.

Meanwhile, the BCCI officials refused to say anything on the issue and said the Board-appointed Commissioner Sudhir Nanavati's report is awaited which will make the situation clearer.
