Hardik Pandya-Arshdeep Singh Swap On Cards? Punjab Kings And Mumbai Indians Near Major Deal
In what could emerge as one of the biggest transfer stories ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season, Punjab Kings (PBKS) are reportedly closing in on a sensational deal to bring Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya to their squad.
The Ricky Ponting-coached side has made significant progress in negotiations with Mumbai Indians, with India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod potentially heading to the five-time champions as part of the proposed exchange.

As per a report from The Hindu, senior officials from both franchises have reached an understanding over the proposed trade, with the remaining formalities expected to be completed through the IPL authorities. An official confirmation could arrive later this week, before the November 17 retention deadline.
Punjab Kings' pursuit of Hardik is understood to have gained momentum following an initial approach from a senior Mumbai Indians official. The franchise was keen to explore the possibility of trading the all-rounder and approached PBKS to discuss a potential arrangement.
Punjab, who have been looking to strengthen their squad with an experienced match-winning all-rounder, showed interest in the opportunity. Subsequent discussions reportedly identified Arshdeep Singh and Vishnu Vinod as the two players who could be included in the exchange.
While giving up Arshdeep would mean losing one of their most reliable Indian fast bowlers, Punjab appear willing to consider the sacrifice to secure Hardik's services. MyKhel also learned that the two franchises are extremely interested in completing the trade move before the auction.
Punjab Kings were not the only franchise interested in acquiring the services of the Indian all-rounder.
Mumbai Indians reportedly explored trade possibilities with at least three IPL teams. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were another franchise whose discussions with MI advanced considerably, with a potential multi-player arrangement involving Hardik also being discussed.
However, with Punjab seemingly moving closer to securing the deal, KKR may now have to reconsider their plans or explore other high-profile options from the Mumbai Indians squad.
The possible departure of Arshdeep Singh could also lead Punjab Kings to explore another trade to strengthen their bowling attack.
PBKS are understood to be considering an approach to Lucknow Super Giants for left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, with Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis potentially featuring in a swap arrangement.
Hardik's arrival could reduce Stoinis' importance in Punjab's team combination, making the Australian a possible trade option. Mohsin, meanwhile, is believed to be highly regarded by the Punjab management, although his fitness record remains an important consideration.
Arshdeep's potential exit would mark another significant development in his association with Punjab. The left-arm pacer was released ahead of the 2025 mega auction but was eventually retained through the Right to Match (RTM) option.
Sunrisers Hyderabad initially secured the highest bid for Arshdeep at Rs 15.75 crore before increasing their offer to Rs 18 crore. Punjab exercised their RTM card at the revised amount to bring the Indian international back into their squad.
Hardik's possible departure would bring another chapter of his Mumbai Indians association to a close.
The all-rounder returned to Mumbai ahead of IPL 2024 through an all-cash trade from Gujarat Titans, where he had enjoyed a successful two-season stint. Hardik captained Gujarat to the IPL title in their debut season in 2022 and guided them to the final again in 2023.
However, his second stint with Mumbai Indians has been considerably more challenging. Appointed captain upon his return, Hardik has faced difficulties in translating his leadership into consistent team success, with MI enduring disappointing league campaigns during his tenure.
A potential move to Punjab Kings could offer the 32-year-old a fresh opportunity to build another competitive side while giving the franchise an experienced Indian all-rounder capable of influencing matches with both bat and ball.
If completed, the proposed deal involving Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh could become one of the most significant trades in IPL history ahead of the 2027 season.
