Hardik Pandya's return to action is set to be delayed as he is expected to take another two months at least to recover from the ankle injury he suffered during India's match against Bangladesh in the World Cup 2023.
Hardik Pandya tried stopping a shot from Liton Das on his follow through when he twisted his right ankle. He left immediately and did not participate further in the match. He was expected to return from the NCA and join the Indian squad for the last two league matches, but was ultimately ruled out completely of the World Cup 2023.

“Tough to digest the fact that I will miss out on the remaining part of the World Cup. I’ll be with the team, in spirit, cheering them on every ball of every game. Thanks for all the wishes, the love, and the support has been incredible. This team is special and I’m sure we’ll make everyone proud. Love, always, HP," Hardik Pandya had written on X.
Prasidh Krishna was selected in India's World Cup 2023 squad as Hardik Pandya's replacement. The injury forced two changes in the playing eleven. Suryakumar Yadav was brought in as a specialist bowler, while Shardul Thakur made way for Mohammed Shami.
A report in The Indian Express has said that Pandya will miss the upcoming T20I series at home against Australia and is also likely to miss three T20Is and three ODIs in South Africa in December.
As per the latest developments, Hardik Pandya could be next seen playing for India in the 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan starting January 11.
