Hardik's IPL 2026 season was below his standards

While Hardik remains among the IPL's most valuable cricketers because of his unique skill set, his individual returns in IPL 2026 were relatively modest.

The Mumbai Indians skipper scored 206 runs at an average of 22.89 and a strike rate of 138.26, failing to register a half-century throughout the campaign. His impact with the ball was equally limited as he claimed just four wickets, while conceding over 11 runs per over.

While Dube's batting numbers exceeded Hardik's during IPL 2026, evaluating the proposed trade purely on recent performances would overlook Hardik's broader value.

The India international offers batting depth, seam bowling and leadership within a single player-qualities that remain exceptionally difficult to replace in the IPL.

Likewise, comparing Hardik's all-round contributions directly with the combined returns of Dube and Brevis can be misleading, given the vastly different roles each player performs within their respective franchises.
