Hardik Pandya may leave Mumbai Indians as Trade Possibility Intensify, MI won't stand in Way

The future of Hardik Pandya with Mumbai Indians is in the balance, and as the IPL trade window remains open, it continues to be a matter of speculation.

Hardik, who has been leading the Paltans for the last three seasons, finds himself in a peculiar position at the moment. The India all-rounder has been the subject of a move away from the Paltans, and it has gained pace in recent months.

Hardik Pandya may leave Mumbai Indians as Trade Possibility Intensify MI won t stand in Way

After the conclusion of IPL 2026, where Mumbai endured another difficult period, there have been questions regarding Hardik's place as a captain. And as per reports, Hardik wants to seek greener pastures.

Hardik had a superb outing for Gujarat Titans in the two seasons he led them, winning the IPL 2022 and then being finalists the next year. But a subsequent return to MI has been marred by turmoil - both on and off the field. The team's performance on the pitch has further bolstered the doubts about it, and Hardik is poised to find a new abode.

MyKhel understands that Mumbai Indians are not reluctant to offload their captain, which will bring in a significant cash flow for them ahead of the mini auction. Although it's not a done deal yet, MI won't stand in Hardik's way if he finds a suitable suitor.

Hardik Pandya linked with many Teams

A trade move has been a possibility. Hardik Pandya is wanted by multiple franchises. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are interested in him, and there are a couple of other teams as well. A recent Cricbuzz report suggested that Zaheer Khan's appointment as CSK head coach may curb the possibilities of a move given the two's reported strained relationship, but it can change in the professional field in the coming days.

Hardik and Zaheer both had a cordial relationship, but a recent report from Cricblogger suggested that they were not on speaking terms in recent times. Although CSK are interested in Hardik, the personal equation may become a hurdle for them.

Amid this, KKR comes in the way. After Ajinkya Rahane's retirement, the captaincy is up for grabs. KKR would also do well with a star name in the side, and someone of Hardik's calibre will be more than welcome. Hardik's all-round ability on the field and leadership qualities can boon the Knight Riders, who remain firmly in the hunt.

Hardik's Injury Woes

The biggest cause for concern for any team bringing Hardik Pandya is his injury history. The star player hasn't played a match for India since T20 World Cup, and was recently ruled out of an India A series with injury. The setbacks remain a concern, but there is no shortage of suitors.

If he eventually moves away, there are at least four or five IPL clubs that will be ready to offer a trade move. KKR, CSK remain the frontrunners, but a few other teams remain firmly in the hunt.

How long is IPL 2027 Trade Window Open?

The trade window is open until a week before the IPL 2027 auction, which is in December. The teams have to announce their retention list by November 15. The window will reopen a week after the auction and remain so till a month before the start of the IPL 2027 season.
