Hardik Pandya, Rahul Dravid left red-faced after hilarious confusion over Yuzvendra Chahal's batting position

In a hilarious moment during India's first T20I against West Indies at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, Yuzvendra Chahal walked ahead of Mukesh Kumar to bat in the final over despite captain Hardik Pandya and coach Rahul Dravid wanting Mukesh Kumar to join Arshdeep Singh in the middle.

Chahal strolled in the middle after the fall of Kuldeep Yadav's wicket on the first ball of the 20th over and was steps away from Arshdeep when Umran Malik, who was walking back after serving drinks, made the spinner aware that the management was asking him to return and make way for Mukesh.

Chahal immediately started to rush back to the dugout but only for the umpire to interrupt and ask him to come back as he had already entered the playing area. Here's the video of the hilarious confusion.

However, the right-hander, who had just five runs to his name from 75 T20I matches before taking the strike, immediately took a single and gave Arshdeep the strike. A double and a dot ball followed before Arshdeep got run out on the penultimate ball.

Mukesh finally walked in an eleven and had the tough task of hitting a six on the final ball to win India the match. A single was all the pacer could manage as India lost by four runs.

Mukesh coming ahead of Chahal might also not have made any difference as he too does not have a noticeable batting record. The Bihar-born cricketer has scored 201, 43 and 12 runs from 40 first-class, 27 List A and 34 T20 matches respectively. Moreover, even the specialist Indian batters found scoring really difficult on an extremely slow surface.
