Hardik Pandya Set For Another IPL Switch? KKR And RR Circle Mumbai Indians Captain
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the most talked-about names ahead of the IPL 2027 trade window, with reports suggesting that both Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are exploring a move for the India all-rounder.
According to a PTI report, multiple discussions have taken place between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians regarding a potential trade, while Rajasthan Royals have also expressed interest and are reportedly willing to include India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in a player-swap deal.

Neither franchise has officially commented on the reports.
The developments come after a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign for Mumbai Indians, who finished ninth in the standings and missed the playoffs for the second time in three seasons under Hardik's captaincy.
KKR looking for long-term captaincy solution
Kolkata Knight Riders appear to be in the market for a new captain after Ajinkya Rahane's short-term stint in charge.
According to the report, KKR had initially approached Mumbai Indians towards the end of last season before discussions stalled.
"Ajinkya Rahane was always a stop-gap arrangement for KKR and he was always going to be released after this season," a source told PTI.
"The KKR top brass had approached MI owners towards the end of last season but since Reliance's Annual AGM was round the corner, IPL trade wasn't the biggest priority at that time."
The source added that discussions have since resumed between the two franchises.
Should a deal materialise, Hardik would emerge as the leading candidate to captain KKR, with current vice-captain Rinku Singh not yet viewed as a long-term leadership option.
Rajasthan Royals enter the race
Rajasthan Royals have reportedly proposed a different route by offering a player exchange involving India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The Mumbai-born batter is one of India's brightest young stars and has been a key part of Rajasthan's setup in recent seasons.
A potential swap involving Hardik and Jaiswal would rank among the biggest trades in IPL history, although there is no indication that negotiations have progressed beyond preliminary discussions.
Captaincy could also prove a key factor. While Hardik would likely walk into a leadership role at KKR, Rajasthan Royals have publicly backed Riyan Parag as a long-term captaincy option.
Hardik Pandya faces uncertain future
Hardik's return to Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2024 season remains one of the most controversial transfers in IPL history.
After leading Gujarat Titans to an IPL title and a runners-up finish in his two seasons as captain, he returned to Mumbai and immediately took over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma.
The move was met with backlash from sections of the fanbase and has yet to deliver sustained success on the field.
While Mumbai reached the playoffs once under Hardik's leadership, the franchise has otherwise struggled to replicate its past dominance.
Any move involving the India all-rounder would require agreement between franchises, as IPL regulations do not allow players to independently negotiate trades with rival teams.
With the trade window still months away, discussions remain at an exploratory stage. However, the emergence of KKR and Rajasthan Royals as potential suitors has placed Hardik's future firmly under the spotlight heading into IPL 2027.
