Pakistan's fast bowler Haris Rauf suffered an ankle injury during the opening match of the Tri-Nation ODI series against New Zealand on Saturday (February 8).
Rauf was forced to leave the field after delivering 6.2 overs, experiencing discomfort following the second ball of the 37th over. He appeared to be in pain, touching his hip before exiting without waiting for medical assistance.

The player was visibly in distress, further heightening the fear of a significant injury, which would be a major blow for Pakistan.
As per latest reports from Pakistan, Haris Rauf sustained a low-grade side strain during the opening match of the Tri-Nation ODI series against New Zealand. The player felt a sharp pain on his left chest and abdominal muscles after a delivery, and couldn't continue.
He is currently receiving immediate treatment and will undergo reassessment before returning to the field.
Side strains, particularly common among fast bowlers, involve injury to the internal or external oblique muscles. Recovery times vary depending on the severity of the strain. According to PhysioRoom, grade one side strains typically require about three weeks of rest from bowling and throwing activities, while grade two strains may necessitate a recovery period of four to six weeks.
Given that Rauf's injury is classified as low-grade, it is anticipated that he will be able to return to play after a couple of weeks of rehabilitation. With the Champions Trophy starting from February 19, the Pakistan management will have to protect Haris Rauf, which may mean him not playing any more in the tri-nation series.
