Harmanpreet Kaur fined by ICC for two incidents during India-W vs Bangladesh-W 3rd ODI

By MyKhel Staff

Harmanpreet Kaur is expected to be handed 75 percent match fee and four demerit points for the Indian captain's behaviour during the India-W vs Bangladesh-W 3rd ODI in Mirpur on Saturday, reported Cricbuzz. The report, however, later added that it could only be four demerit points and no match-fee penalty for the captain.

Harmanpreet Kaur is going to be penalised by the world cricket body (ICC) on two of the incidents that happened during the series decider, including her outburst at the umpire after smashing her wickets at the stumps.

The 34-year-old batter is going to be fined 50 per cent match fee for the incident while a further 25 per cent is charged for her rant against the umpiring decisions during the post-match presentation ceremony. Kaur was adjudged lbw in the 34th over while India were chasing 226.

The skipper, who missed the length while trying to sweep Nahid Akter, felt she nicked the ball before it went on to hit the pad and had a heated argument with umpire Tanvir Ahmed while pointing a finger at the official. She later said that the umpiring was poor in the game and would consider it for their future tours of the country.

"For the on-field incident, she will be fined 50 percent of her match fee while for the way she represented herself her in the presentation ceremony, she will be fined 25 percent of her match fee," the official told Cricbuzz.

Three demerit points are also handed for her on-field behaviour while another demerit point was for her post-match conduct. There were reports of other accusations against Harmanpreet as well from the local media as her Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana later criticised her Indian counterpart. She also reportedly walked out of an official photo session due to the remark.

The trophy was shared between the two teams after the three-match series ended 2-1. It is yet to be seen if BCCI will reprimand Harmanpreet's behaviour or back their captain by filing a complaint against the standard of umpiring during the match.
