The Indian team will be taking a short trip from Pune to Mumbai in the quest to turn their fortunes around. After a disappointing series defeat, Rohit Sharma and his boys will be hoping for a consolation victory at the Wankhede Stadium.
But ahead of that, the Indian team released Harshit Rana from the squad for the upcoming match. Harshit Rana, who has been part of the Indian team as a travelling reserve, flew back to Delhi and participated in Delhi's Ranji match against Assam.

Harshit has been in the India fray after his performance for KKR was noted in the IPL. Rana secured 19 wickets in the season and ranked among the top five wicket-takers, contributing to KKR's third IPL title win in 2024. Rana was part of India's limited overs squad and travelled with the team to Pune as a reserve.
But Rana's exclusion comes in response to the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association's (DDCA) call for Rana's inclusion for Ranji due to Navdeep Saini's absence. Saini is committed to an India A tour in Australia, leaving a vacancy in Delhi's lineup for their forthcoming match, as reported by Times of India.
The Delhi pacer is also included in the Australia Test series. Rana's exclusion from the team followed Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was also in Pune as a travelling reserve and was subsequently released to play for Andhra Pradesh against Gujarat in their next match.
Harshit Rana showed his value for Delhi in their match against Assam. On the first day of the match, the KKR pacer scalped four wickets. Although Rana has been part of the Indian team both as a squad player and reserve, he is yet to play for India. Although the bowler will be desperate for his first cap, this provides a massive advantage for Kolkata Knight Riders, who are likely to keep him for Rs 4 crore as he can be enrolled as an uncapped player.
