Charlie Dean on Sunday (December 8) joined an elusive list as England registered a 6-wicket victory over South Africa in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Kingsmead in Durban.
Dean became just the third England women's cricketer and overall 12th player to claim a hat-trick in Women's One Day Internationals when she collected superb figures of 4 for 45 in the series-levelling win.

The England spinner completed the hat-trick across two overs, as she removed Marizanne Kapp with the final delivery of the 17th over before dismissing Nadine de Klerk and Sinalo Jafta on the opening two balls of the 19th over.
"I didn't even realise I had a hat-trick so it was great to find that out afterwards," Dean admitted after the match in a video posted by England Cricket X handle, as quoted by ICC. "I am pleased with my game at the moment. I am still learning and growing but I'm becoming more consistent in how I'm going about things."
The feat saw Dean become the first English women to take an ODI hat-trick since Clare Connor claimed one against India in Northampton in 1999. Earlier, Carole Hodges was the first player to take a WODI Hattrick. Hodges achieved the feat against Denmark in 1993.
Australia's Megan Schutt was the last player to claim a hattrick in Women's ODIs. The Aussie pacer had achieved the feat against West Indies in 2019, when South Africa's Masabata Klaas also took three wickets in a row against Pakistan.
As it stands, 12 players have claimed a hattrick in women's One Day Internationals, here is a look at the list of bowlers with trebles in WODIs from 1993 to 2024, featuring Dean and Hodges:

Apart from the three women, four English men have also achieved the rare feat, with Steven Finn, Steve Harmison, Andrew Flintoff and James Anderson the quartet of players to have picked up an ODI hat-trick.
Coming back to the SA-W vs ENG-W 2nd ODI match, Dean's heroics saw England dismiss South Africa for just 135 before Tammy Beaumont (34), Maia Bouchier (33) and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (25*) helped the visitors race to victory within 24 overs.
The England eves had lost the series opener by 6 wickets in Kimberley last week. However, the win in Durban on Sunday (December 8) ensured the series was leveled at 1-1 ahead of the series decider in Potchefstroom on Wednesday (December 11).
