HC gives one week to Dhoni's swimming pool

By Staff

Ranchi, Feb 6 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court today granted one week to the hydrological department to come up with a report regarding a swimming pool in the under-construction house of Indian one-day cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice D G R Patnaik passed the order while hearing a PIL.

The lawyer appearing on behalf of the hydrologist pleaded before the court that he did not have knowledge about filing of any affidavit along with separate report regarding the hydrology of Harmu Area.

Earlier, the Court had directed the Ranchi Regional Development Authority to file a report prepared by hydrologist by February six as some residents of the Harmu area filed the PIL alleging that with the construction of the swimming pool water level in the area would down leading to major crisis.

The petitioners alleged that the swimming pool would consume approximately four lakh gallons of water adding the map sanctioned by the RRDA was illegal because it had been passed in haste.

Reacting to it, Dhoni father Paan Singh also filed an affidavit stating that the map was approved by the RRDA. Singh also informed the court that Dhoni had gone to Australia to play forcing him to file the affidavit on his son's behalf.

He also claimed that the pool would consume only 28657 gallons of water. Watco India of Kolkatta is the consultancy company for constructing the pool, which would be filled once in a year.

The court fixed February 13 as next date for hearing.
