Bengaluru, November 28: Veteran Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Rangana Herath has been ruled out of the third Test against India to be played at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi from December 2.

Herath has complained of a sore back and leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay has been added to the Lankan squad for the third Test.

In the first Test at Kolkata, Herath had bowled just eight overs in pace friendly conditions but had scored a vital 61.

In the second Test at Nagpur, he bowled 39 overs and took one wicket conceding 81 runs. Herath will fly home on Thursday (November 30).

Sri Lanka Cricket initially wanted leg spinner Malinda Pushpakumara to join the side but he failed a fitness Test.
