Here's what MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli said about Vaibhav Suryavanshi, reveals Rajasthan Royals manager

By MyKhel Staff

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's fairy-tale rise in IPL 2025 has not only dazzled fans but also drawn admiration from two of Indian cricket's biggest icons -- MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

The 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener became the youngest centurion in IPL history after his sensational 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur. Now, Royals team manager Romi Bhinder has revealed what the cricketing greats had to say about the young sensation. Speaking to Sports Today after Suryavanshi's whirlwind 101 off 38 balls, Bhinder offered insights into the youngster's recent meetings with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli -- interactions that came before the record-breaking knock that has taken the IPL by storm.

"Yes, he met Dhoni the last game we played in Guwahati. So he met Mahi. He will again meet him in our reverse fixture against CSK. But I can see similar traits in both men. Both are calm and cool, but still play aggressive cricketing shots. So there are a few similarities," Bhinder said.

He then shared what the legendary former India and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni said after watching Vaibhav's performance. "MS Dhoni also praised him a lot, he said 'ok, you got the baby in your team. The baby is showing the great shots like a matured player'," Bhinder quoted, highlighting Dhoni's blend of admiration and humour in his observation.

Suryavanshi will get another chance to meet Dhoni when Rajasthan Royals travel to Chennai for their reverse fixture against CSK on May 12 -- a meeting that will likely carry even more weight after the youngster's heroics in Jaipur.

Not just MS Dhoni, former RCB captain and India batting great Virat Kohli also had a brief but meaningful chat with Vaibhav Suryavanshi during Rajasthan's match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli, who remains an inspiration for millions of young cricketers across the country, made an impression on the teenager with his humble and wise advice.

"Vaibhav likes Virat Kohli a lot. They met and shared a couple of tips. Virat also told him that how to be grounded and how to stay humble and work hard," Bhinder revealed.

For a player as young as Suryavanshi, the backing and mentorship of such revered names could prove invaluable as he navigates the pressures of elite cricket. Already hailed as a prodigy after his explosive knock -- which included 8 fours and 11 sixes -- Vaibhav's ability to remain composed under pressure drew parallels to Dhoni's temperament and Kohli's discipline.

As he continues to rise through the ranks, the encouragement from two of Indian cricket's greatest leaders will serve as both validation and motivation. Whether he's "the baby" of the team or the next big thing, one thing is certain -- Vaibhav Suryavanshi has arrived, and legends are watching.
