With his 269, Gill has now overtaken some of India's all-time greats in the list. His score surpassed Virat Kohli's unbeaten 254 against South Africa in Pune (2019) and Sachin Tendulkar's 248 not out against Bangladesh in Dhaka (2004). More significantly, no Indian captain has ever scored more in a Test match. The previous best by a captain was Kohli's 254*, which now sits below Gill's masterclass.
