Highest Opening Partnership in ODI World Cup: David Warner and Mitchell Marsh on Friday (October 20) broke Australia's opening partnership record in the show-piece event when they took the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners in Bengaluru.
Warner and Marsh smashed hundreds at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to take their opening partnership past 200, breaking the previous highest opening stand of 183 by Shane Watson and Brad Haddin at the very same venue in the 2011 World Cup against Canada.

Put into bat first, Warner and Marsh cut lose against the clueless Pakistan bowling attack, reaching their personal milestones of centuries in 85 and 100 balls respectively. The pair smashed 21 fours and 16 sixes during their stand.
The Australian duo, however, fell one run short of equalling the highest partnership for the country in the World Cup for any wicket as their stand ended at 259 following the dismissal of Marsh for 121 off 108 balls.
The highest stand by Australia for any wicket is 260, which still belongs to Steve Smith and Warner, who shared the stand for the second wicket during the 2015 World Cup at the WACA in Perth against Afghanistan. Here is a look at the highest partnerships for Australia in World Cup history:
| Runs | Batters | Wicket | Versus | Venue | Year |
| 260 | Steve Smith & David Warner | 2nd | Afghanistan | Perth | 2015 |
| 259 | David Warner & Mitchell Marsh | 1st | Pakistan | Bengaluru | 2023 |
