England on Thursday declared their first innings at 823/7 after a triple hundred from Harry Brook on Day 4 of the ongoing Test match against Pakistan in Multan.
The total is fourth highest in an innings of a Test match. The 800-run mark has been breached only four times in Test cricket. In fact, England have crossed the landmark three out of four times, however they don't hold the record for the highest team total in a Test match.

Sri Lanka hold's the record for the highest team total in an innings of a Test match since August 1997. They scored 952/6 against India in Colombo as Sanath Jayasuriya slammed a triple hundred.
England is the only other team to cross the 900-run mark. The Three Lions scored 903/7 against Australia at The Oval in August 1938. The third-highest team total in Test cricket also belongs to England, who scored 849 versus West Indies at Kingston in April 1930.
West Indies owns the fifth-highest team total in an innings of a Test match. They scored 790/3 at Kingston vs Pakistan. India's highest team total in Tests is 759/7 against England in December 2016. It's the eighth-highest total in history of the longest format of the game.
On a flat batting paradise in Multan, Pakistan won the toss and scored 556 in 149 overs. But the hosts were pushed to back foot after 823/7 in 150 overs. The pitch at the Multan Cricket Stadium has been criticised by many including former England captain Kevin Pietersen.
