West Indies put up a gigantic batting display to register a mammoth score in their T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match against Zimbabwe on Monday (February 23).

Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell starred with the bat as they piled up 254/6 in their full quota of overs, thus cementing the total as the highest in this edition of the T20 World Cup.

Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza opted to field first in a pulsating ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Group 1 match at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, but West Indies unleashed batting fireworks to post.

Shimron Hetmyer delivered a match-defining masterclass, blistering 85 off 34 balls with 7 fours and 7 towering sixes, narrowly missing a century and eclipsing Chris Gayle's West Indies record for the fastest T20 World Cup fifty. His explosive knock propelled West Indies past 200, forming key stands before Graeme Cremer's leg-spin induced a catch at deep midwicket.

Rovman Powell complemented with a destructive 59 off 35 balls (4x4, 4x6, SR: 168.57), anchoring the middle order amid partnerships that yielded 122 runs post-powerplay. At the latter stage of the innings, Sherfane Rutherford (31 off 13) and Romario Shepherd (21 off 10) hit the pedal to complete their onslaught. Jason Holder also played a decent hand with 13 runs to take them over the 250-mark.

West Indies went past Ireland's 235 against Oman to register the highest total in this edition of the T20 World Cup. Overall, they stand second in the list, only after Sri Lanka's mammoth 260 against Kenya in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
