Hong Kong China team training hard for ICC league championship
Chennai, May 7 (UNI) The dog days are no hurdle to play cricket in the city: the Hong Kong China cricket team will vouch for this, working hard as they are, preparing for the ICC World Cricket League Division three tournament to be held in Darwin islands, Down Under later this month.
What's more, they are being coached by a stand in coach'', former Indian wicket-keeper Sameer Dighe, on the recommendations by Team India's new fielding coach, former all roundr Robin Singh, the original coach of the Hong Kong team. Under Robin, the Hong Kong team has achieved considerable progress.
According to Peter Fernandes of the MAC Spin Foundation, where the team is training, apart from playing a few practise matches with local teams, Robin, had suggested Dhige as he had to be away in Bangladesh.
We still have a contract with Robin. But he is busy with the Indian team now. He suggested Dighe's name.He will be there till this World Cricket League in Australia,'' Ravi Nagdev, manager of the HOng Kong team said.
Accorlding to Nagdev the Hong Kong China team has a mixture of youth and experience. ''There are four under 19 boys in the side.Others are in their early 30s. They are very committed,'' he added.
The team consists of mostly expartiates Pakistanis and Indians and is being led by Elyas Gul.
