Pakistan's dismal run in Test cricket has taken a disaster alley as they have lost the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Pakistan have lost the series 2-0 to Bangladesh in their own backyard, further jeopardizing their chances in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

After losing the first Test in Rawalpindi, Pakistan have suffered a similar fate in the second match. Bangladesh completed a historic Test series win in Pakistan on Tuesday (September 3) as they won the latest match by 6 wickets.
Currently, Pakistan are struggling in the 8th position of the WTC table. Shan Masood and his team has lost valuable points and are loitering second from the bottom, with a PCT of 19.05 %. Despite winning two matches in this cycle, Pakistan have 16 points due to their 8-point deduction for slow over rate.
After their disastrous outing against Bangladesh, Pakistan do have a challenging remainder of their cycle.
Pakistan will host England in October for Three Tests, and then they will travel to South Africa in December-January for two Test matches. The current WTC cycle for Pakistan will conclude with a home series against West Indies in January next year.
Pakistan have significantly damaged their chances of progression to the WTC final in this cycle. With seven matches of their cycle still remaining, they are not completely out of it. But the task for their qualification is a mammoth one.
Pakistan will have to win all of their Seven Test matches to have a chance of qualification. If Pakistan win all of their final seven matches without any point deduction, they will end up with a PCT of 59.52%, which has proven to be enough for qualification to the final.
Apart from that, Pakistan also need Australia and New Zealand to drop points in order to qualify for the final.
