Italy has qualified for the T20 World Cup 2026 as they finished 2nd in the ICC T20 World Cup Europe qualifier.
The Azzurri, known for their prowess in football, has now created history as they qualify for a cricket World Cup for the first time in their history, thus becoming only the 5th European nation to achieve it.

Italy created history by finishing second in the European qualifier, which was taking place in Netherlands. They secured their spot after a strong performance in the Europe qualifiers, including a key victory over Scotland and maintaining the best Net Run Rate (NRR) among the competing teams.
Italy's qualification was confirmed by finishing in the top two of the round-robin stage, edging out other contenders like Scotland, and Jersey. Their final qualification was sealed despite the tense competition, marking Italy's maiden appearance in an ICC event of this stature. Before that, Italy also won European Sub Regional Qualifier A in 2024.
