Pakistan's campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 began with promise but ended in heartbreak, encapsulating their familiar rollercoaster journey in global tournaments.
Placed in Group A alongside India, Netherlands, USA, and Namibia, the Men in Green opened against the Netherlands on February 7 at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, securing a tense three-wicket victory while chasing a modest total, thanks to a gritty knock from Faheem Ashraf at the end.

Subsequent group fixtures saw a commanding win over USA on February 10, was a victory. Pakistan then lost to arch rivals India on Februar 15. They wrapped up group stage against Namibia on February 18, clinching a spot in Super Eights with a six-wicket stroll.
In Super Eights, Pakistan battled valiantly but stumbled against a resurgent England side, finishing third in their group. Their match against New Zealand was washed out and a victory over Sri Lanka in the final encounter was not enough as Pakistan was ousted on the basis of inferior Net Run Rate.
Despite their Super 8 exit, the Pakistan Cricket Team is set to receive decent prize money from the ICC for their performance. Salman Agha and his team won four matches across the stages, while they suffered two defeats.

For their performance, Pakistan will receive USD 522,692 from the ICC, which is around Rs 14.60 crore in Pakistani currency. The amount translates to around Rs 4.79 crore in Indian currency.
India have received a gigantic amount of USD 2,639,423 (2.64 million almost) after winning the tournament, which is around Rs 24.28 crore in Indian Currency. In terms of Pakistani rupee, the amount translates to Rs 73.96 crore, which is around five times what the Pakistani team earned.
