Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took crucial decisions off-field which ultimately helped India in lifting the the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.
Rohit and Kohli had not played a single T20I match for India until January 2024 after India lost their semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against England in Australia.

Hardik Pandya took over India's T20I captaincy, and there were talks on the all-rounders permanently assuming the position. However, chief selector Ajit Agarkar decided to have a conversation with Rohit Sharma.
Rohit showed exceptional form in the ODI World Cup 2024 where he gave flying starts to India in almost all the matches. Now we needed to put a plan in place,” said a selector.
Vice-captain Hardik Pandya impressed with his all-round show in the T20 World Cup 2024, also bowling the final over in the final to successfully defend 16. Rohit Sharma starred with the bat against Australia and the semi-final against England. Virat Kohli top-scored for India after the team collapsed to 34/3 in the final against South Africa.
