Hyderabad, Oct 3 (UNI) Cricket-crazy Hyderabadis are hoping that master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who has had a good run in the city in his previous appearances, alongwith his team mates would outshine the ODI World Champions Aussies in the third match of the seven ODI series at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on October five.
Sachin would be under tremendous pressure to perform as he failed with the bat and the team failed to chase the 300 plus score in the second ODI match at Kochi yesterday.
With zero and 16 runs in the series, one more bad innings in Hyderabad might endanger Sachin's place in the team for the next couple of ODI matches as the national selectors are adopting a rotation policy, analysts felt.
In this backdrop, Sachin would be looking out for a big score from his willow. The city has been a favourite hunting ground for Sachin, who made his best ODI score of 186 not out against New Zealand here in 1999-2000. He also cracked another century (102) against the same team in the TVS cup in 2003-04.
Though he was out for a cheap score (two) against Proteas a couple of years ago, the Hyderabadi fans are hopeful that Sachin would crack another big score against world champions on Friday. His recent century (100 not out against West Indies) came in 2006-07 at Vadodara. Sachin missed four centuries in the recent 18 ODIs.
Saurav is looking good and hopeful of making a big score after he missed second one day match due to hamstring injury. He just has modest scores of 33 against New Zealand, 31 against South Africa, seven against Zimbabwe and four against Kiwis in Hyderabad.
Rahul Dravid too is under pressure as he could not reach half century mark in the recent five matches. Apart from the trio, the team is looking at Yuvraj Singh to play a responsible innings.
Apart from big scores from top order batsmen, the team is hoping that bowling department will curb the rampaging Australians.
The teams arrived in the city in the afternoon. One realtor Suchir India has gifted housing plots to the T20 World Cup winning squad members, while Sachin Tendulkar presented a Chevrolet car to Mithali Raj, Indian women cricket captain, at a function organised by ACA secretary Chamundeshwaranath.
The tickets for the October five match were sold out in just couple of hours after four special counters were opened by UCO bank yesterday.
